File names and internal titles differ
The name displayed in a folder and the title stored inside a PDF are separate values. Renaming report.pdf does not update its Title field. One viewer may use that title for a tab while another displays the file name. Identify which value you intend to correct before editing anything.
PDF properties and metadata shows standard fields, page count and dimensions for the first ten sheets. Use it to inspect a delivery copy or investigate an old label. An empty field means no standard value is available there; it does not prove that related information is absent elsewhere in the file. Save the summary for consistent version comparisons.
Define the scope before editing
Edit PDF metadata changes title, author, subject and keywords. Choose values describing the version you intend to deliver. A title identifies contents and a subject supplies context. Leave a field empty when appropriate rather than inventing information merely to complete every box.
The tool accepts up to 25 MB and 500 pages. Retain the original and use a valid unencrypted copy. Modifying a PDF can invalidate existing digital signatures. Preserve the signed document when verification matters and determine whether a separate descriptive copy is needed before editing. Changing these fields does not change visible page text or printed numbering, so inspect those separately when necessary.
Save and inspect the edited copy
Load the PDF and read current values before replacing them. Enter changes, process and select Download. The original remains on your device. If you change settings afterward, generate a fresh result so the downloaded file matches the current edit rather than an earlier operation.
Open the download in PDF properties and metadata and compare all four fields with your entries. Review an early and a late page in your usual viewer as well. If a tab shows another name, confirm which file you opened and how that application chooses its label. Avoid editing unrelated fields just to change one viewer’s interface presentation.
Interpret dimensions and removal limits
Dimensions are reported in PDF points, at 72 points per inch, before rotation is applied. Internal width and height may therefore differ from visible orientation. Documents can contain mixed page sizes, and a summary of ten pages does not establish every later page’s dimensions. For printing, inspect the actual sheets and viewer scaling settings too.
This edit does not modify XMP or remove names on pages, comments, attachments or other document data. Clearing Author affects one standard field and does not certify anonymity. If information removal is required, identify every location where it appears and review the copy using a procedure appropriate to that scope.
Correct a copy’s title
Load the sample PDF, initially titled Kitavio sample. Set Title to Test report and Author to Demo Team, keeping other fields as they are. Process and select Download to save the edited copy.
Title: Test report Author: Demo Team
Inspecting the download in PDF properties and metadata shows the new title and author and the same three-page count.
Check A1, A2 and A3 in your viewer too. This example verifies two standard fields without claiming that other information was removed from the document.
