Choose digital text extraction or JPG and PNG page images, then check the downloaded copy.

Choose the output your task needs

Start with Extract PDF text to reuse paragraphs, search information or prepare a list. Choose PDF to PNG or PDF to JPG to place a page in a presentation. A text file contains characters; a page image contains pixels and retains the visible appearance, but does not let you edit its words as ordinary text.

Check whether words can be selected in your PDF viewer. A scan can display readable lettering without containing digital text. Kitavio does not perform OCR: extracting a photograph-only page does not recognize its letters. For mixed documents, review digital pages and scanned sheets separately before choosing how to use the output.

Select positions and start with a small trial

Selections count positions starting at 1. Covers and contents pages count even without printed numbers. Entering 1,3-5 selects the first sheet and positions three, four and five. Leaving the text extraction selection empty processes the complete document.

Test a representative page before converting a large file. Text extraction accepts up to 25 MB, 250 pages and two million output characters. Image conversion accepts up to 50 pages per operation and also limits pixels and memory. Read the complete limits beside the controls. If a batch fails, reduce the selection and read its message before repeating the operation with the same settings.

Inspect reading order and page separators

Text is reconstructed from digital PDF content. Columns, tables, headings and broken words can appear in a different order from the visible page. A form feed separates pages, and another editor may display that separator differently when you paste the extracted result.

Compare a heading, a middle line and the end of each page with the original. For a table, verify that numbers remain associated with their labels. Save or copy the extraction before opening another tool. Cleaning spaces may improve readability, but does not recover absent characters or automatically correct column order. Keep enough source context to check any rearrangement you make afterward.

Choose format and inspect the download

PNG can suit lettering and diagrams when compression artifacts should be avoided. JPG offers adjustable quality for photo-heavy pages. Higher resolution increases pixels and memory use without creating detail absent from the source. Compare a page containing small letters before choosing the resolution for a batch.

One page produces an image; several produce a ZIP. Generate and select Download, then extract the ZIP when applicable. Open outputs in their intended application. Images do not preserve links, forms or editable text as functions. Retain the source PDF and verify page count and order before sharing the exported copies with their recipient.

TRY IT YOURSELF

Extract only the second page

Download the three-page PDF and load it into Extract PDF text. Enter 2 as the selection, process and inspect output. This sample contains digital text, so recognition of a page image is unnecessary.

2

Output contains Kitavio sample - A2 and neither A1 nor A3. One page was selected even though its text is now the only content in the result.

Copy or download the text and compare it with the PDF’s second sheet. Try a scanned page separately to see why readable appearance does not guarantee extractable text.
