Split or extract
Splitting creates multiple PDFs; extracting gathers a selection into one file. To send pages 2, 4 and 7 together, use Extract. To get one file per sheet, use Split.
For patterns such as 1, 3, 5… or 2, 4, 6…, the odd/even tool avoids a long manual list.
Enter clear page blocks
The example 1-3,4-6,8 creates three files: pages 1 through 3, pages 4 through 6 and page 8. Blocks refer to positions in the loaded PDF, starting at 1.
The cover counts too. Repeating a page in separate ranges includes it in several outputs; do this only intentionally.
- Add the document and check its detected page count.
- Choose each page or range mode and enter your blocks.
- Process and save the ZIP when several outputs are produced.
- Extract the ZIP and check the beginning and end of each PDF.
Before sending the result
Rename each block to describe its contents. Attach individual PDFs if the recipient does not need a ZIP.
A protected or damaged PDF may fail. Available device memory limits heavy documents; the original stays intact and files are not sent to a conversion API.
Criteria for reviewing and delivering the result
Chapter delivery needs boundaries that make sense when each block is read independently. List title, first position and last position before splitting. If a chapter opens with a table whose legend fell before the cut, adjust the selection to retain context. Equal size divisions are convenient for some tasks, but do not recognize where an explanation ends. Ranges express that editorial choice more precisely and give you a reference for later review.
After extracting the ZIP, open each PDF and compare boundaries with the prepared list. Check for omitted sheets and confirm any overlap is deliberate. Give outputs clear names so recipients can distinguish chapters and versions. If a block remains too large, inspect image heavy pages and whether the destination supports another arrangement. Do not split again without checking scope: a second cut uses positions inside the new block rather than positions in the complete source. Retain the initial inventory and sources to explain the relationship between delivered files and original pages. This record is especially helpful when a revised source changes the chapter boundaries later.
Separate a cover from a content block
Load the three-page PDF. Switch to range mode and enter 1,2-3. Each range creates a separate document.
The download is a ZIP with two PDFs: one sheet for the cover and two for the content. The original three-sheet document stays intact.
Unpack the ZIP before inspecting or sending its documents. With a single range, check its result as one PDF; splitting does not modify printed page numbers.
