Maximum 25 MB and 40 megapixels. Each dimension supports up to 16,384 px. Everything is processed in your browser.

Reprocessing can change metadata and color profiles. JPG does not preserve transparency: a white background is used. PNG and WebP support transparency.

We do not send your file or text contents to a processing server. No account is needed and there is no daily operation quota. Individual tools have size limits to protect your device’s memory.

How to use this tool

  1. Select an image small enough to embed.
  2. Generate its Data URL and keep its file-type prefix.
  3. Copy or download the complete text; it contains the selected file’s bytes.

An example you can verify

Get a Data URL for a prototype or small embedded resource.

Example input

A PNG image.

Expected result

Text beginning with data:image/png;base64, followed by the encoded file.

Base64 increases size and does not encrypt the image. A separate file is usually preferable for large resources.

Settings and limits

The Data URL includes the MIME type and original content encoded as Base64. Copy it or download it as text. Base64 is approximately one-third larger than the original bytes.

Frequently asked questions

Does Base64 compress the image?

No. It encodes bytes as text; it is neither compression nor encryption.
