How to duplicate PDF pages without changing their order

Add copies beside their originals and distinguish extra copies from total appearances.

Extra copies versus total appearances

One extra copy of page 2 changes 1,2,3,4 into 1,2,2,3,4. To get three appearances of a sheet, request two extra copies.

In a five-page document, selecting 2,4 with two extra copies produces 1,2,2,2,3,4,4,4,5. Other sheets keep their relative order.

Repeat templates or forms

Use this for a worksheet, template or instruction sheet. The sheet’s contents do not change; identical copies are placed next to the reference.

  1. Load a PDF and check its pages.
  2. Enter references such as 2, 1,3 or 4-6.
  3. Choose 1 to 10 extra copies, applied to every selected reference.
  4. Process, open the download and inspect each duplicated group.

When another kind of change is needed

To move copies elsewhere, use Reorder and enter the complete sequence. To add empty space, use Insert blank pages.

The output cannot exceed 500 pages. For different quantities, process groups separately. Check forms, annotations and orientation; preserve the original and reduce the batch if the browser slows down.

Criteria for reviewing and delivering the result

When repeating a worksheet, decide whether one copy consists of a single page or a group. Instructions and an answer sheet may need duplication together. Count complete copies required for each participant and prepare a sequence reflecting that unit. If copies retain identical printed numbers, use clear delivery references to distinguish them without confusing those labels with positions inside the PDF. The intended unit should be defined before selecting pages.

Review the download by counting complete units rather than merely observing a larger sheet total. An incorrect selection can increase page count while leaving worksheets incomplete. Inspect insertion points and neighbouring pages. For interactive forms, enter different values in fields on two copies and reopen the saved file to observe behaviour. For printing, check where each unit starts in a paper trial as well. Keep the original worksheet for later quantity changes, avoiding further duplication of an edited copy whose earlier arrangement is unclear. Source preservation makes a new batch easier to verify than a chain of copies produced from copies.

TRY IT YOURSELF

Repeat the second worksheet once

Load the three-page PDF, select page 2 and enter one extra copy.

You get four sheets labeled A1,A2,A2,A3. Both occurrences of A2 are adjacent.

One extra copy does not mean one total occurrence. Also check interactive fields in the duplicated worksheet.
