How to create and check a readable QR code

For a link, enter the full URL including https://. Kitavio encodes it directly without adding an intermediate redirect service.

A printed code cannot be edited. If contents change, generate another code unless you separately control a redirect at its destination address.

Contrast, margin and dimensions

The generator uses black on white with a clear surrounding margin. Do not crop that margin or place the code over an image that makes its modules difficult to distinguish.

More content produces a denser pattern. Choose sufficient dimensions and preserve proportions; enlarging a small bitmap afterward may blur edges. SVG is useful for scaling without losing sharpness.

2. Choose dimensions and PNG or SVG format.
3. Generate and download the code.
4. Scan with another device and verify the displayed contents or destination.

Check the final version too

For print or a poster, test the final specimen at the intended distance and lighting. A generator-screen test does not validate every later print.

The URL may reveal its contents to anyone who scans. QR codes do not encrypt information or guarantee external links are safe; check the destination before opening it.

Criteria for reviewing and delivering the result

Check QR readability on the final medium. A screen preview does not necessarily reproduce a printed poster’s size or contrast. Produce a sample using the intended file and scale, retain the white margin and scan from a realistic distance. A longer address increases pattern density and may need more physical room for distinguishable modules. Clear reproduction is necessary even when the original output is a scalable vector file.

After scanning, inspect the address and verify the intended destination. The symbol contains exact text and cannot update existing printed copies. Establish a separate strategy before a print run if the link must change; this generator does not manage dynamic redirects. Retain content and file version to distinguish similar looking codes. Avoid private parameters in public material. The QR itself has no built in expiry, but its destination can disappear or require access. Useful review combines symbol reading, destination opening and inspection of what recipients will find, not merely camera recognition of a pattern. Confirm the final layout does not crop the margin or shrink the symbol after the successful trial.
